Debutant Dirk Van Duijvenbode Into BoyleSports World Grand Prix Final

Aubergine farmer Dirk van Duijvenbode has reached the final of the BoyleSports World Grand Prix following his outstanding victory over multiple major finalist Simon Whitlock on Sunday night in Coventry.

The 28-year old BoyleSports World Grand Prix debutant scored ten 180s in his match against The Wizard and has seen his odds crumble into 10/3 from 7/1 to win.

His odds were as big as 200/1 before the tournament started.

His convincing 4-1 win over Whitlock sees him face Gerwyn Price in the final following the Welshman’s 4-3 win over Dave Chisnall in the Ricoh Arena on Sunday night.

He is the first Dutchman outside of Michael van Gerwen or Raymond van Barneveld to reach a major PDC ranking final since Vincent van der Voort at the 2007 UK Open.

The Iceman has won three of his last four tournaments and denied two-time runner-up Chisnall a spot in the final after he missed four darts for the match, so it’s no surprise to see the Welshman tumble into the 2/9 favourite from 10/11 to win the £100,000 prize.

It’s 4/1 from 5/1 for Price to win and score over 8.5 180s, while van Duijvenbode is 11/1 from 14/1 to win and score over 7.5 180s.
