There were joyous scenes in one household in the capital this week when a tiny wager was transformed into the most timely of boosts thanks to a lucky run of numbers.
An anonymous punter struck a simple €1 bet in a BoyleSports shop in Dublin on Wednesday, picking four numbers to be drawn in the Lotto Plus 1 Draw that evening.
They needed 2, 5, 7 and 17 all to roll out, but once the draw got under way…
…the odds started to tumble rapidly as the stars began to align for the expectant Dubliner.
When all four numbers had landed within the six drawn, it meant odds of 7,500/1 had been smashed and the €1 betting slip was now worth a total of €7,501.
