One Galway household is toasting a satisfying win after a small flutter resulted in a chunky five-figure windfall thanks to four lucky numbers at the weekend.

The anonymous punter placed a €2.50 accumulator in one of BoyleSports’ Galway stores on Sunday afternoon, hoping for four numbers to come out in the afternoon 49s draw at odds of 7,200/1.

They were left waiting on numbers 6, 8, 12 and 24 all rolling out of the machine but there were scenes of celebration as that’s exactly what happened.

The run of luck allowed them to go back up the counter and pick up a tasty weekend bonus of €18,002.50.
