Auf Wiedersehen! Germany Dumped Out Of World Cup

Masses of punters who backed Germany to win the World Cup with us breathed a huge sigh of relief on Wednesday despite the 2014 Champions crashing out of the tournament.

Joachim Low’s side leaked two late goals as they chased the three points against South Korea, meaning they were sent packing from Russia and handed the wooden spoon in Group F.

The last three winners of the World Cup have now failed to progress from the opening group stage in their defence of the trophy.

However, we missed out on a huge boost to our World Cup outright book as customers who plumped for the Germans pre-tournament received their money back as a free bet. We had vowed to trigger the refunds should any outright selections be sent home at the group stage.

Germany’s exit leaves Brazil and Spain as joint 4/1 favourites.

England closed into 8/1 from 9/1 shortly after the final whistle blew on Germany’s defence of the trophy.

Should Brazil make good on their favouritism in Russia, we will be set for more heartache as one lucky customer stands to win €45,000.

Damien Synnott from Dublin was the last man standing in their World Cup competition in association with OffTheBall, which won him a free €10,000 bet on any team to win the tournament and he took his chances on Brazil at 9/2.
