Kevin Kilbane’s Derby Day Tips!

The Manchester Derby on Sunday is huge, it’s a contrast in styles between the two managers and it will be interesting to see what Jose Mourinho does.

Will he set his side up in a bit more of a defensive fashion like we saw at Anfield earlier in the season and try to contain City?

It seems to me that given what Jose has done in these big games, that will be the approach.

They’ve won the last four since they lost to Chelsea last month at Stamford Bridge and they’ve lost just one of the last six Manchester derbies, so they are in good form in these matches but Man City themselves have won their last 13 games in the Premier League and they’ll equal Arsenal’s record this weekend with a win.

They lost their first match in 29 games on Wednesday away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League but they did rest a number of key players for the game and I think we’re set up for a classic at Old Trafford.

Romelu Lukaku scored home and away against Manchester City last season, he’s certainly the man you’re looking to for goals, he hasn’t been in the greatest form recently but he did score midweek against CSKA Moscow and he’s got 12 goals now in all competitions.

For the Citizens, Sergio Aguero is the main man, he relishes these big occasions and he’s now got 12 goals all competitions as well.

People might laugh when they read this but I think it will be an incredibly tight game and I have a feeling United might edge it.

They’ll be motivated to stop Guardiola’s men getting this record and with the way Mourinho sets up his side for the big games, under 2.5 goals with United to nick it 1-0 is the value here.

As for the Merseyside Derby, Liverpool are in such great form recently and of course, in great form overall against Everton, they’re unbeaten in the last 14 derbies and they’ve lost just one in the last 21 v Everton in the league. They’ve won the last seven straight matches against the Toffees, The Reds have been unstoppable in these games.

Mo Salah’s been Liverpool’s top man with 12 goals in 15 Premier League appearances with 18 goals in total so far, while Phillipe Coutinho has been the form man in the last few weeks, he’s got 6 in his last 7 including the hat-trick in the Champions League against Spartak Moscow.

Everton have no wins at Anfield in 17 visits, their last win came in 1999 when Kevin Campbell got the winner.

I think the cards market is the one to look at here. 21 red cards in this fixture alone in the Premier League so this is normally a match that attracts the cards.

I think there’ll be goals in this one, over 2.5 goals is a great bet, Wayne Rooney has scored 5 in his last 8 appearances, he’ll be desperate to score against Liverpool and Oumar Niasse has been steadily doing well for Everton, he’s got 3 in his last 5 and 2 in his last 2.

I just think Everton won’t be able to contain Liverpool, particularly the way they’re scoring. I think they will score but, and it does pain me to say this, Liverpool to win and both teams to score is the bet here.
