Allegri Is Clear Favourite For Arsenal Hotseat
Max Allegri has emerged as the clear frontrunner to succeed Arsene Wenger in the Arsenal dugout as Juventus prepare to hold talks over his future in Turin.
The 50-year-old Italian, who was a 12/1 shot for the Arsenal job when Arsene Wenger announced his plans to leave the club, was backed into 6/4 from 11/4 on Tuesday as rumours surfaced that he featured at the head of Arsenal’s shortlist of candidates for their new manager.
Allegri has led Juventus to two Champions League Finals during his time with the Italian giants and is on the verge of delivering his fourth consecutive Serie A title with the club.
Zeljko Buvac, who shot up the betting last week after an alleged fall-out with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, has seen market support dwindle in recent days as he has drifted out to 9/1, having been leading the bunch at 3/1 before the weekend.
Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Enrique, both 6/1, are now closest to Allegri in the betting, with the latter also rumoured to be high on Arsenal’s priority list.
The market for next Arsenal boss has seen plenty of activity, but now it has settled a bit, Max Allegri is clear 6/4 favourite with his nearest rivals in the betting now back at 6/1.
Allegri looks like a perfect candidate given his recent track record in Italy
…but we’re still not ruling out a name coming from the back of the field and last week’s move on Buvac has us on high alert that it doesn’t happen again.
