Mikel Arteta Hot Favourite For Arsenal Hotseat
Next Permanent Arsenal Manager
Mikel Arteta has overtaken Massimiliano Allegri in the betting to become the favourite to be the next Arsenal manager after the Juventus boss hinted that he wanted to stay at the Italian club.
Speaking to reporters after Juventus claimed their seventh consecutive Serie A title, Allegri said that if he wasn’t fired he saw himself “staying at Juventus next year too.”
He had been the 6/4 favourite to succeed Arsene Wenger, but punters have turned elsewhere, seeing his odds drift out to 5/1 ahead of Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers at 6/1.
Most traffic on Monday was geared towards Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta, who is said to be on the shortlist of targets the Arsenal board are considering.
The former Gunners midfielder has been backed into 4/6 from 8/1
…leaving us to wonder if there is something in the rumours that he is already gathering a backroom team to fill the seats in the Arsenal dugout next season.
It would be a surprise to see Arsenal go for a name with no managerial experience, and that’s where the money has been in the last few days.
