Seeley’s Selections – Wednesday Champions League Games

WHEN you are on the verge of throwing your entire season away what is the last thing you want to be doing?
Well a trip to the Nou Camp to face Barcelona would be very high on the list and that is exactly what Manchester City have to do to rescue their season on Wednesday night.

The Premier League champions not only have to win in Catalonia which is hard enough, but they must overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit which is, in my opinion, impossible.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is a man under huge pressure and this is a “MUST” win for him in terms of having any hope of staying in the Etihad hot-seat at the start of next season.

The talk has already begun about Carlo Ancelotti replacing him for next season and another embarrassing defeat in this one could see him being handed his P45 before the season is over.

Barcelona are short priced 2/5 favourites with BoyleSports and even though it’s not a price that tempts me, it will many and I can’t see anything other than another comfortable home success.

Barca have won 16 of their last 17 matches and this could turn out to be a very one-sided one again on Wednesday evening.

City are 7/1 with BoyleSports for the win, in what would be one of the shocks of the Champions League this season but it’s impossible to see a team that lost at Turf Moor last time out winning at one of the most difficult places in world football.

The Citizens’ have lost three of their last four matches and with only three wins in their last 10 games they just aren’t an option, neither is the draw at BoyleSports 17/4 either.

Barca will win and I’m sure they will win well and instead of taking the short odds the home team -1 on the BoyleSports handicap market looks the best bet at BoyleSports 20/21.

The Spanish giants cruised through 2-1 in the first leg and should have had a third to make it 3-1; that scoreline at 9/1 with BoyleSports is the one I like in this second leg.

Luis Suarez was a constant threat in the first leg and it well be a familiar story again in this one. The former Liverpool ace is 10/3 with BoyleSports to open the scoring in the Camp Nou and that looks well worth getting your teeth stuck into on a man who has scored four Champions League goals in as many matches this season.

Seeley’s Selections
Barcelona To Win -1 @ 20/21
Correct Score Barcelona 3-1 @ 9/1
Luis Suarez First Goalscorer @ 10/3

Borussia Dortmund v Juventus
In the other match it’s not as clear cut when Borussia Dortmund entertain Juventus in this massive last 16 second leg clash.

The Italians travel to German with a very slender 2-1 first leg lead and are BoyleSports 1/2 favourites to qualify through to the quarter-finals.

After a shaky start to their season Dortmund have started to show their true form domestically, but they have always produce their very best for the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have won 11 of their last 14 Champions League home games and many will see the 6/5 on them to win in 90-minutes here with BoyleSports and be tempted, but I’m not so sure.

Juventus, have pretty much wrapped up their domestic title and they will have all their eggs in this Champions League basket; at 5/2 they will be also a popular choice in a very tricky match to have a strong view on.

Instead of finding the match winner the best bet in this one is for both teams to score at 3/4 with BoyleSports.

Both sides scored in the first leg and in a game where Dortmund have to attack, they could leave themselves vulnerable at the back against the dangerous Italians.

The two have met three times in Germany in the Champions League and both teams scored on every occasion and two of the matches resulted in 3-1 away wins for Juventus and at the 16/1 with BoyleSports that could also be worth a very small interest.

Seeley’s Selections
Both Teams To Score – Yes @ 3/4
Correct Score Juventus 3-1 @ 16/1

B Lucky.
