Villa On Course For Football’s Richest Game

Derby County and Aston Villa will be contesting the richest game in football on May 26th if punters’ money is anything to go by ahead of the Championship Play-Off semi-final second legs this week.

Derby County lead Fulham by one goal to nil as they travel to Craven Cottage on Tuesday evening to face a Fulham side who have scored more goals than any other Championship side in 2018.

But no side has lost a semi-final first leg and went on to win the Play-Offs in the past 22 years

…and the hosts are 20/21 to overturn their deficit and qualify for the final, with Derby slight favourites at 4/5 to contest the showdown at Wembley.

Aston Villa are hot 1/6 shots to be taking part in the final, which is said to be worth up to £290m to the winners. They also hold a 1-0 advantage going into the second leg thanks to Mile Jedinak’s away goal at Middlesbrough.

At 15/2, ‘Boro are the outsiders of the four teams vying for promotion to the Premier League, while Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa are favourites at 11/8 to be back in the top flight just two seasons after their relegation.
