Will This Year Be The Year Rory Becomes The Master?

Is this going to be the year that Rory McIlroy completes his career Grand Slam by winning the only major missing from his collection?

The Masters and its green jacket has eluded the Holywood man but he couldn’t be in better form heading to Augusta this year.

His start to 2019 has been exceptional. He’s only the second player since 1980 to record 7 or more top 10 finishes including a win before April 1st.

He’s come close before. In 2011 he led the field from round 1 until the turn on round 4 but a spectacular collapse on the back nine saw him shoot 80 and fall to -4 having been in the lead on -11.

He’s currently 12/1 to finish the 1st round in the lead.

He’s shown good form around Augusta and in 10 starts has made 9 cuts and finished in the top 10 five times and the top 5 twice. He’s 5/6 to finish in the top 10.

He’s shot 65 twice in his career at the Masters and he’s 10/1 to shoot the lowest round of the week at Augusta this year.
