BoyleSports IGD Round 1 Review: Things Can Only Get Better!

BoyleSports IGD

Outright Betting

One round over and boy did we take a battering! Seven winning favourites from ten on Thursday night. One of the other winners Crinkill Jake wasn’t the best result either.

Round 1 Round-Up
The treble everyone wanted early on Thursday morning was the Rocket, Tyrur Harold and Dorotas Wildcat. It was like picking money off the street outside! They won by a combined distance of 23 lengths and there was never a moment’s worry.

Things weren’t as bad on Saturday night although Drive On Tipp, Jaytee Jet and Swithens Brea winning one after another did hit us hard enough! We will have a quick look over some of the big guns over the first two nights.

After returning to form in recent weeks, Sonic produced the performance of his career in the second heat when he flashed out of the boxes, led to the corner and seemed to come home stronger than ever clocking an electric 29.12.

You would want to see the sweat running down my forehead after laying the track record to go at 8/1, 6/1, 4/1 and 5/2! He set the bar fairly high early in the competition.

Value
Sent to traps a long odds-on favourite Tyrur Harold gave an exhibition of front running in Heat 4. Making a fast start, the May ’15 whelp was clear of his rivals before the turn and he drew right away to emerge a comfortable six and a half-length winner over Toolmaker Obama in a very quick 29.46.

The change of seeding on this fellow seemed to do the trick, he is value in the outright market at 20/1 .

Produce Stakes and Laurels winner Clonbrien Hero had a perfect introduction to headquarters in Heat 5. Trained by that man again Graham Holland, Hero broke fast on the inside, led to the corner and failed to see another rival for the rest of the race.

He looked to keep up a strong gallop up the home straight before stopping the clock in 29.65.

The Rocket Rocked It!
Ante post favourite Clares Rocket went off a 1/4 favourite for Heat 7 and he didn’t let his followers down. The dog trained by Graham Holland for the Full House Syndicate broke fast from six and immediately showed in front from Lolos Framptons and Coolavanny Mason.

With every stride he increased his advantage and raced home a sixteen length winner from Inky Holdem in 29.16. This was the Rocket we know and love, he is a massive six figure loser in the ante-post book for us.

I can’t see him getting knocked out any time soon!

Dorotas Wildcat picked up from where he left off in the England with a powerful burst of early pace in Heat 9. Wildcat went clear down the far side and was all of 6 lengths clear of his closest rival down the back. Between the last two corners however Wildcat’s stride looked to shorten slightly and he came back to the field on the run for home.

Hovex Mick ran a huge race in second place to be only a length off the winner as they reached the Judge. The winning time was 29.62.

Jaytee Joy
Champion Stakes hero Jaytee Yankee got his Derby campaign off to a perfect start in Heat 11 as he came from off the pace to pick up the early leader Droopys Payet down the far side. Once hitting he front there was no stopping this son of Droopys Jet. He crossed the line two lengths in front of Payet in second and Burnt Beans an unlucky third in 29.73.

Yankee was the first leg of a fabulous treble for the Jaytee team as Dutch and Jet both done the business in their respective heats. Dutch overcame traffic congestion off the second turn in heat 12 to go and land a winning blow when picking up Offshore Point up the run-in stopping the clock In 29.81.

Jaytee Jet really pulled out all the stops in Heat 15, off the second corner he looked to be in a little bit of bother as the early pacers pulled clear. As he went past the 750 boxes however he really went into overdrive and began to reel in the leaders, as they approached the line Jet was in top gear and had a length to spare over Milldean Skip in 29.68.

Run Of The Night
Drive On Tipp produced the run of the night on Saturday night as he glided to success in 29.35. Tipp never gave his supporters a moment’s worry as he set a scorching early gallop and quickly put distance between himself and the rest of the field.

As he turned for home he was over six lengths clear of his closest rival. Velvet John Joe came out of the pack up the home straight to do the chasing but it was to no avail.

Second Round
The draw for the second round has thrown up some fascinating clashes. The mighty Clares Rocket is drawn in against leading UK hope Dorotas Wildcat. The Rocket will be hot favourite but Wildcat won’t let him have it all his own way on the run to the bend.

Native Chimes and Drive On Tipp looks an interesting clash on paper in Heat 2. Tipp has the inside line which gives him the upper hand. Sonic will go off a red hot jolly in Heat 5 where his biggest danger will be Buckos Dream.

The NAP of the round goes in the last heat on Thursday night, Fweshfromthesesh looks to have a plum draw in six. I thought he ran a blinder last weekend when having his first look around the circuit. He can put in a fast away always led performance!
