Pumpkin Adios 50/1 into 25/1 – Liscannor (ADIOS ALONSO – PUMPKIN VIEW) May
Declared winner here, kennel had both finalists! Looked to improve each round, by Adios Alonso should relish the long stretch in Powerstown Park. May well appear out again this season.

He did indeed appear out again in Old Kilcullen (beat in semi-final of puppy stake by Derby Fav Blueview Rio) and AbbeyFeale (again beat in semi-final by declared winner Parlour Game) he clocked up well on both occasions. Massive improver!

Isn’t He Class 33/1 into 20/1 – Glin (WALLACE GREEN – LEIGH SMOKEY) Jan
Showed nice all round pace in a tough field in Glin, there is normally a few winners come out of this meeting every year. Nothing of note yet however! He is by Wallace Green x Leigh Smokey, dam has thrown champions in each litter so far. Shrewd connections.

Has been nibbled at in the market.

Cranorchard 33/1 out to 40/1 – Regional (KILLIMOR MATEY – BRIANNA) Mar
Was in Regional the day he won. Tough as old boots, massive outsider in the final against Foxhollow King. Won like a jolly! First trial stake winner of the year for sire Killimor Matey. Bullet from slips, won’t be led to easy.

Came out since in the Cup in Johnstown, didn’t show any sparkle at all.

Loyal Lar 40/1 – Westmeath Utd (KYLE JAMES – LOYAL LEADER ) May
Won a 24 dog trial stake, had the advantage of being at the bottom of the draw. Beat Blueview Huggle in the final here, who since ran ok in Kilsheelen.

Alcar has since come out of this trial stake and won.

Rhythm And Rhyme 25/1 – Ballyheigue (RAZOR ASHMORE – QUALITY AND DASH) Apr
Favourite from the start of the trial stake. Comes from the all-conquering kennel of John Flynn in Tarbert. Bred to run in Clonmel. Sure to improve, kennel tend to produce their runners again before Clonmel. Guaranteed to go off shorter come Derby time.

Just ran ok next time in the Cup in Newcastlewest but showed better in Mooncoin (semi-final of the Cup) over Christmas. Connections don’t spare them!

Missouri Rock 33/1 – Fermoy (JOHNNY CASANOVA – WISE LADY) Jan
Beat hot favourite Slimfit in the semi-final here. Held his clock throughout the competition and comfortable winner of final. Litter is going well this season, brother won in Crohane. Fast away, will Clonmel suit? That’s the question.

Appeared out since his win, beat Stonepark Rebel (Abbeydorney winner) in the first round of the Corn Na Feile and got beat by Pumpkin Adios in the next round.

Furey Mills 40/1 – Loughrea (ADIOS ALONSO – STOP THAT GER) Jan
Caught the eye in round one of this trial stake and always looked to have the upper hand here. By Adios Alonso x Stop That Ger, dams first litter. Clocks were a bit off All Age dogs at this meeting, but should improve from first outing.

Stonepark Rebel 33/1 – Abbeydorney (MURTYS BLAZE – UPTOWN REBEL) May
Form for this trial stake has stood up so far, Galway & Oranmore winner was beat in second round. Runner up has since come out and ran well. Rebel is handled by Mike Donovan so has to be well respected. Out of Uptown Rebel, one of the best broods in the country whos offspring Improve with age.

Disappointed in the Corn Na Feile.

Amazing King 33/1 – Crohane (JOHNNY CASANOVA – WISE LADY) Jan
Second qualifier from the Johnny Cassanova x Wise Lady litter. Trained by Matt and Francis O’Donnell. Well fancied for his trial stake win and has since appeared in the cup in Knockgraffon. Was beat by Feel My Pulse in round two, which was no disgrace. Will have to step up on his first round showing however.

Donovanneighbour 33/1 – Edenderry (KILLIMOR MATEY – BOSCA CEOIL ) Jan
Another winner for Killimor Matey, was outsider in the final here. Was clocking similar enough to all ages runners (was not the strongest all age in the world). Has age on his side, seemed to relish the long field.

Was the unlucky dog in the Puppy Stake in Kilcullen (word is he went offline in the semi-final) big improver.

Clon Carlos 40/1 out to 50/1 – Mallow (KINGSMILL DYNAMO – BUCKS HONEY) Mar
Trained by Dennis O’Drisscoll in Skibbereen. Was 8/1 outsider on the second morning, just kept improving and improving. It was his third outing which suggested he was very green starting off. Dams was very talented herself and well bred.

Has had two runs since his win, very poor in Johnstown but ran better in defeat in the first round of Corn Na Feile (Cuine Dale beat him).

Crushers Willow 33/1 – Thurles (SKELLIG WAY – SKELLIG TIVOLI) May
First trial stake winner for Skellig Way. Runner up here has since come out and won in Kilsheelen (Crafty Gonzalo). Connections have a very good strike rate together. He’s only a May puppy so there is natural improvement there.

Beat in first round of puppy Stake in Kilcullen by Pumpkin Adios in his next appearance.

Shining Geemac 50/1 – Charleville (MAFI MAGIC – CHIANG MIA) Apr
Son of Mafi Magic and Chiang Mia. Won third time of asking after reaching semi-final in Liscannor. Was slight outsider in the final, is a 50/1 chance for Derby glory. Is an April puppy so connections will be hoping for him to improve

Redzer Green 50/1 – Milltown Malbay (WALLACE GREEN – INTERVENTION ) Apr
Won second time of asking, ran up the reserve trial stake in Ennis first time out. Was clocking well off decent cup dog Call Up Pal. Another qualifier for Wallace Green who’s having a very good season so far.

Had a third outing in Kilcullen but came up well short against the mighty Blueview Rio in the first round.

Coolpeach Miller 33/1 – Waterford (KINGSMILL DYNAMO – COFFEE IN CURROW) Jan
Convincing winner here for Terry Rossiter. Dam Coffee In Currow was an Oaks quarter finalist and is turning out to be a very decent brood bitch. It was Millers first time out and looked to improve with every run, going by breeding he should love the rising ground in Clonmel.

Has had two outings since his trial stake win, beat in first round in Gorey and second round in Wexford (beat by winner Stephens Owen).

Parlour Game 20/1 into 16/1 – Castleisland (KINGSMILL DYNAMO – INTENSE FOCUS) Mar
Trained by Michael J O’Donavan. Looked to be the outsider of the two MJOD trained runners in the semi-finals (Black Barracuda was his other runner, beat in his semi) Normally one of the stronger trial stakes of the year, don’t be surprised to see a few more winners come out of here. First time out winner. Dam Intense Focus is throwing them very good so far. One for the notebook.

Declared winner of the Corn Na Feile (trainer had both finalists). Did also have a run in the all age in Newcastlewest, beat in first round by leading Champion Stakes fancy At All Times. A big player.

Crafty Toro 20/1 – Freshford (ADIOS ALONSO – CRAFTY PINERO) Jun
First of the Crafty qualifiers. Beat the well fancied Wazowski in the semi-final and a comfortable winner of the final. Was clocking on par with the all age winner (Sudden Cas). Crafty runners tend to get stronger throughout the year. Well bred.

Form form has been boosted, runner up here Alcar ran away with the trial stake in Kilcullen.

Cooga Harry 40/1 – Limerick City (NEWINN WONDER – COOGA MUSIC) May
First trial stake winner for Irish Cup winner Newinn Wonder, clocked consistent throughout and just got the better of Casanova Turbo in final. Winner third time of asking, beaten in round two in both Crohane and Fermoy. Great early pace.

Beat in the first round of puppy stake in Mooncoin by winner Somelittlestar since his trial stake win. Now in the hands of MJOD

Blueview Rio 10/1 into 8/1 – Trim (BEXHILL EOIN – FOXHILL RIO) Jan
Derby favourite after his win here. Word was out about this lad before coursing. Ran out a comfortable winner, the big question after his win was where was he going?! He is still under the care of Jim ‘Maxi’ Collins as far as we know. There isn’t a better man in the country with a greyhound. Bred to be special, Blueview dogs are flying so far this season.

Kilcullen puppy stake winner, now clear favourite for the Derby. Has been snapped up by Brendan Keogh and Simon Senyk and is now under the care of Ian Reilly.

Jet Stream 25/1 – New Ross (THOMAS THE TANK – CALL POSIE) Apr
This son of Thomas The Tank always stood out in this trial stake. Clocked consistently the fastest throughout, dam Call Posie was well fancied for Oaks glory but never made it to the big stage. Looked a powerful dog on his debut here, trained by Kevin Barry he could be a leading player in Clonmel.

Has changed ownership since his win, now owned by John (Dublin Coach) O’Sullivan and Glen Healy. Kevin Barry remains the trainer.

Fuerty Express 40/1 – Galway & Oranmore (CENTRAL CITY -FUERTY FLASH) Jan
Came in as a reserve to win here, trained by Pat Buckley. Has some nice qualifying trials on his card and ran in an open unraced stake in Enniscorty. Tried on the coursing field for a change of scenery which proved very successful! Stayed 525 strong so the length of Clonmel shouldn’t bother this son of Central City.

Cuine Dale 33/1 – Nenagh (ADIOS ALONSO – DALE ROISIN) May
Out of Oaks winner Dale Rosin, this was his first time out. Kyle Mozart was the main talking dog in this stake, Cuine put him away in the Semi-final. He went into the decider the outsider but came out on top against Smart Pal. Id be surprised if the two aforementioned runners don’t come out and rattle a trial stake.

Went to Abbeyfeale to contest the Corn Na Feile going out in the second round to Parlour Game.

Howdododo 25/1 into 20/1 – Carlow (JOHNNY CASANOVA – YOUR SYMBOLIC) May
First time out winner by Johnny Casanova. A lot was to be liked about his style of victory. Carlow is one of the longer fields in the country and he really thrived here, he could be a live runner in Clonmel. He wasn’t a million miles off Needham Simple in the cup which is a fair marker for any pup first time out.

Showed up very well in the Cup in Templetouhy, connections were spot on to take him out after a round. Beat cup winner Sudden Cas in the first. Has been supported.

True North 25/1 into 16/1 – Listowel (ADIOS ALONSO – JAMAICA JANE) May
Yet another winner for the red hot Adios Alonso out of Jamaica Jane (sister of Central City) this looked an above average trial stake, True North was breaking dogs hearts with his early.

Form for this trial stake has worked out to be red hot (Newinn Whisper and Somellittlestar have since come out and won handy), big move in the market.

Trained by MJOD, he was well primed for his debut. Listowel has produced some top class winners in the past so he has a lot to live up to. He defiantly has the ability. Half-sister Tynwald Jane ran up the Oaks.

Tellmemorelies 16/1 – Ballyduff (NEWINN WONDER – NEWINN DROOPY ) Mar
A very popular winner here, by Newinn Wonder x Newinn Droopy. Dam has thrown decent performers over the years who went well at the National Meeting. This lad won two rounds in Charleville before being withdrawn, his next outing was here and he made no mistakes about winning.

His clocks against the mighty Timber House were not bad. Timber is the fastest in the country! Jamaica Jack was the fancied runner in this trial stake before being withdrawn. Trial stake looked decent.

Crafty Gonzalo 16/1 – Clonmel & Kilsheelen (ADIOS ALONSO – CRAFTY PINERO ) Jun
I was impressed by Crafty here in Kilsheelen, it was his second outing after running up in Thurles. Impressed throughout the trial stake, never took his eye of the game. Second winner from this Adios Alonso x Crafty Pinero litter. Showed a nice turn of pace from slips and was in command of every course.

Cuine Yet 33/1 – Cavan (ADIOS ALONSO – DALE ROISIN) May
Another winner from the Adios Alonso x Dale Roisin litter. He reached the quarter final in Castleisland (turning out to be a good stake) first time out. Runner up in this trial stake looks decent so the form from Cavan looks solid. Held his clock all through the meeting. Has to be respected.

I’m From Rio 16/1 out to 20/1 – East Donegal (BEXHILL OWEN – FOXHILL RIO) Jan
Second from the Bexhill Eoin x Foxhill Rio litter (litter brother to Derby fav Blueview Rio). Word was circulating about this fellow before he was even entered to run. Connections know the time of day and have tasted success on the big stage. Added in at 16/1 for Derby glory, ignore at your peril.

Somelittlestar 33/1 into 20/1 – Knockgraffon (ADIOS ALONSO – LIVE AT TWO) Mar
Second qualifier for John Flynn in the Derby. Owner/trainer combination have enjoyed great luck over the past few seasons with this breed. Picked up his ticket 3rd time of asking, best performance before here was quarter final in Listowel.

Mooncoin Puppy stake winner, well supported in the market for Derby glory.

A couple of well fancied dogs ran in Knockgraffon so form could yet work out. Ran out a comfortable winner in the final after Capetown Evan got a bit of work in semi-final.

Ashwood Casanova 33/1 – Enniscorthy (JOHNNY CASANOVA – ASHWOOD DEE) Mar
Casanova winner second time out after getting beat by the winner in New Ross. His clock in the quarter final here in Enniscorthy really stood out (beating well respected Bingo Star). This fellow is bred for speed being a half-brother to Pocketrocket Ben and Ashwood James. Interesting to see how he handles the climb in Powerstown.

Crafty Tonino 16/1 – Rathkeale (ADIOS ALONSO – CRAFTY PINERO) Jun
Third winner from the Adios Alonso x Crafty Pinero litter, beaten finalist in Edenderry before sealing the deal in Rathkeale (All eyes in this stake were on Octane Wonder). Crafty looked to improve from his debut outing and ran out a very impressive winner here. Any further improvement can see him with a live chance in the BoyleSports Derby.

Glenbowen Junior 33/1 – Rathcormac (NEWINN WONDER – CHANCE ME BETTY) May
Junior picked up his car pass first time of asking in Rathcormac. Held his clock each day and looked very professional. He is only a May puppy so improvement should come naturally for this son of Newinn Wonder and Chance Me Betty.

Disappointed in Blarney in the Cork Cup at Christmas, beat in first round.

Coolvanny Bingo 20/1 now into 16/1 – Bandon (Razor Ashmore- Newinn All in) June
First time out winner for this three quarter brother to Thomas The Tank and Newinn Wonder. Was always quietly fancied to win here, beat the hot favourite Wazowski in the final. Still only a baby so more to come from this lad, added at 20/1 for derby glory.

A nice bit of confidence behind this runner in the outright market. Now into 16’s.

Black Barracuda 12/1 – Mitchelstown (Kingsmill Dynamo-Blades Of Glory) Feb
Same connections as Boshski. Comfortable winner of this trial stake, started a warm favourite. Was 2/5 on the second morning (that tells his own story!). Victory was never in doubt. Beaten in semi-final of a hot trial stake in Castleisland where he was the jolly. Exceptional breeding, trained by MJOD.

Bower Wonder 20/1 – Ardpatrick (Newinn Wonder-Bower Sign) Apr
First time out winner, second winner from this litter (sister won in Ballyduff). Impressive from the word go. Trained by the Dunphy brothers in Portlaw. Still a bit puppyish so there is improvement left in him. Could well go off shorter for Derby.

Newinn Whisper 16/1 – Johnstown (Newinn Wonder-Newinn Droopy) Mar
Picked up his ticket second time of asking. Showed up very well in Listowel (beaten by winner in S/F when favourite). Got a bit of a fright in the quarter final in Johnstown in a tight buckle. Loved the rising ground in Woodsgift which suggest he will love Clonmel. Real good dog on his game.

Ardfert Andrew 33/1 – Lixnaw (Kyle King-Amys View) May
First winner for Kyle King. Third outing for this may puppy. Clocked well throughout, dam extremely well bred. Stand out course in the semi-final beating Excel And Exceed (beaten finalist in Castleisland).

Alcar 20/1 – Old Kincullen (Wallace Green- Class Attraction) Jan
Bred in the purple. Winner third time of asking, beat in second round in Westmeath Utd and final in Freshford (boosting the form of Crafty Toro). Super early speed, how will he react to the longer stretch in Clonmel? Breeding suggests he should like it. Clocked with decent pups in the Puppy stake at this meeting

Creamery Wonder 20/1 – Glanworth (Newinn Wonder-Chance Me Betty) May
Another one for Newinn Wonder, second from this this litter. Winner third time out (first round in Mallow and 3rd round Rathcormac), came out on top in Glanworth in terrible weather conditions. Seemed to rocket from slips every time, really took off in the semi-final.

Redzer Ferrari 40/1 Newcastlewest (Kingsmill Dynamo-Mrs Jingles) May
Had plenty of experience before picking up his ticket in Newcastlewest on his fifth attempt. Caused a few upsets along the way, improved in every round and seemed to motor from halfway. Will have to improve further however.

Hilark James 40/1 – Gorey (Kyle James-Marshals Duchess) April
James started off in Fermoy where he was beaten in the first round by eventual winner Missouri Rock. He was also beaten in first round in New Ross before collecting in Gorey. It looked as though he really needed his first two outings, looked far more mature in Gorey, winning independently!

Tree Top Nidge 33/1 – Rathdowney (Johnny Casanova-See The Sky) March
Beaten in the first round in Knockraffon by Domain King, Nidge made no mistake next time in Rathdowney. Always in control of his courses he stood out in the stake early. Could be more improvement in this son of Johnny Casanova, dam comes from the Tango Time line.

Tory Hill Denzel 40/1 – Dungarvan (Razor Asmore-Quality And Dash) April
5th qualifier from this amazing litter (2 dogs and 3 bitches so far). Won on debut here in terrible weather conditions. Sure to come on for the outing, had to battle hard to win.

Im Wide Awake 33/1 into 20/1 – Westport (Adios Alonso-Funny Honey) March
Another qualifier for the Michael O’Donovan team, winner third time out. Caused a bit of a shock in the final beating Crafty Boogaloo. Was fancied on debut in New Ross but fell at the second hurdle. Owner trainer combination have to be respected.

One of the biggest liability’s in our Derby book.

Colossal Ranger 40/1 Castletowngeoghegan (Kyle Ranger-Colossal Plan) Feb
First winner for Kyle Ranger. Third time out, beaten in round 1 in both Glanworth and Ennis/Clarecastle. Was always clocking behind decent bitches in All Age Bitch stake. Must improve to be counted.

Chapel Lane 33/1 Borris In Ossory (Adios Alonso-Jamacia Jane) May
Third qualifier from this litter (True North and Oaks fav Laurdella Dani). Owned and trained by Michael O’Donovan. Made his debut in Castleisland, next appeared in Knockgraffon where he reached semi-final, getting beat by winner Somelittlestar. Will love the long stretch in Clonmel.

Portane Ash 10/1 – North Kilkenny (Razor Ashmore-Newinn Allin) June
Bred to be special. A late June puppy. Made his appearance in Listowel where he was withdrawn after one run (got a very hard hunt) looked to run well. Next outing was here in North Kilkenny, he looked to win independently. Really caught the eye in round three. Was initially added to the market at 16/1, that was quickly taken as was the 12/1. He is now as short as 10/1 joint fav for the Derby. Another member of the MJOD team.

Get Stuck In 50/1 – Borrisoleigh (Adios Alonso-Aslee Annie) May
Winner 4th time out here in Borrisoleigh. Best effort before here was 3rd round in Nenagh (beaten by runner up). Will be suited to better conditions, beat Lithuanian King (duffer winner in Newcastlewest) in a close final. Bred for both speed and stamina, still young only a May pup.

Wallace Banner 33/1 – Co Kerry (Danaghers Best-Wallace Court) April
You don’t see too many of these Danaghers Best pups around. Banner caught a few peoples eye with his performance in Carlow (reached semi-final, lost out to Howdododo) made no mistake next time out in Tralee in what looked a decent trial stake. Long stretch will suit this fellow. Trained by the maestro Brendan Matthews.

Kilara Cuban 33/1 – Cork (Razor Ashmore-Kilara Milanie) Feb
Started the season off in Glin, ran well until being withdrawn in 3rd round. Reached semi-final next time in New Ross, then was on to Johnstown where he lost out in a thrilling buckle to Newinn Whisper. Started off favourite in Cork over Christmas and won with relative ease. Got a nice bit of work in the final but word is he has come out of it 100%. Dam is a full sister to Go Home Hare

Killucan Ralph 33/1 – Dundalk (Johnny Casanova-Your Symbolic) May
4th qualifier from this exceptional litter (2 dogs 2 bitches) Won in the wettest of the wet conditions. Hard to gauge his ability from here. Was favourite from the first round, final was unsatisfactory but the result was the right one. The dog that showed the most ability in the course won

Coshair Oggie 33/1 – Mooncoin (Adios Alonso-Coshair Laois) Feb
Winner 4th time of asking, reached the final in Carlow on his second attempt (Form for Carlow is rock solid). From the word go in Mooncoin he looked the likely winner for the Coss family. Nice turn of early pace, could surprise a few in Clonmel. Track breeding on the Dam side

Nemos Django 50/1 – Roscommon (Mafi Magic-Great Ability) May
Ran four times before he rose a flag. Then when he got his first flag in Roscommon he couldn’t stop! Was an outsider in the final, a relentless galloper. Is going to have to improve dramatically to be counted in Clonmel.

Needham Ridge 25/1 – Wexford (Razor Ashmore-Wallace Beauty) April
A second Derby runner for the Matthews team. Ridge had 4 appearances before he struck gold in Wexford. Was quietly fancied for this meeting. He beat the highly thought of Voice in the final. Needham runners have to be respected on the main stage. Can improve

Octane Wonder 14/1 – Abbeyfeale (Newinn Wonder-Dynalite) June
Made his debut in a duffer in Castleisland. Supposed to have clocked up extremely well and was snapped up by a syndicate involving his now trainer Mossy O’Connor. All eyes were on this fellow next time out in Rathkeale but he was beat in the semi-final by the winner Crafty Tonino. Collected his ticket next time out in one of the best trial stakes of the year so far in Abbeyfeale. His buckle in the semi here was very tight with Kyle Mozart.

See More Lights 25/1 – Galbally (Newinn Wonder-Chance Me Betty) May
Only out twice, first time out reached the semi-final in Borris On Ossory. He put in some eye-catching performances along the way there. Started a short price favourite next time out in Galbally and made no mistakes. Was put in originally at 33/1 for the Derby but that was taken straight away he’s now 25/1. Trained by Decky Byrne.

Drive On Smokey 25/1 – Millstreet (Adios Alonso-Jamaica Jane) May
Owned and trained by Thomas O’Donovan. A member of a top class litter (4 qualifiers). Smokey had a few outings before it all clicked for him. I saw him in action in Castleisland, thought he ran well against Black Barracuda in round 3. Each time he ran early in the season he was beat by the winner so his form book looks ok. Had a bit of a handicap to overcome in the final in Millstreet, came through with flying colours!

Seriously Brave 40/1 – East Donegal (Blueview Sam-Ballymore Becks) March
First qualifier in the Derby for Blueview Sam, very well bred on the dam side. Winner on 4th attempt, clocked decent through out here. Looked to relish the long field, a very popular winner.

Mr Orange 20/1 – Templetuohy (Adios Alonso-Chubbys Excel) March
Has had a big reputation all year, finally collected his ticket in Templetouhy. Met current Derby fav Portaine Ash in round 2 in North Kilkenny, wasn’t disgraced on that occasion. Connections have tasted success on the big stage already in Clonmel, one that we will be keeping on side!

General Marshal 25/1 – Ballymena (Razor Ashmore-Ravel Glory) April 25/1
General Marshal was introduced in East Donegal where he made the semi-final losing out to Im From Rio. Next time in Castletowngeoghegan he bowed out in the second round to eventual winner Colossal Ranger.

So his form wasn’t too bad heading to Ballymena. Had to put in a huge effort to take a trilling final, plenty of guts. Dam Ravel Glory was a ball of speed.

Kingsmill Jasper 16/1 – Kilcreevin Ballymoat (Johnny Casanova-Kingsmill Chanel) Jan
First appeared in Crohane, going out in the 3rd round to winner Amazing King. Next appearance was in New Ross where he reached the final (beat by Jet Stream). Then came Gorey where he also fell at the final hurdle (Hilark James won). A semi-final in Wexford was to follow before he claimed his ticket in Ballymoat. A very deserving winner, possibly best on the day?

Ride Your Bike 40/1 – Tubbercurry (Kyle Ranger-Colossal Plan) Feb
Second member of this litter to qualify. Winner third time of asking. Best previous effort was reaching the 3rd round in Killimer Kilrush. Was an outsider in the final in Tubbercurry but won like a jolly. Improvement needed.

Skellig Shane 20/1 – Clonakilty (Mafi Magic-Skellig Beag) March
