Aintree’s Leading Jockey Thinks Tiger Roll WILL Attempt Grand National Hat-Trick

Aintree top jockey Robbie Power is sceptical on Michael O’Leary’s claim that Tiger Roll will not go for a third consecutive Grand National next year.

O’Leary said it was ‘very unlikely’ that Tiger Roll would go for three-in-a-row but Power wrote in his BoyleSports blog that there is more to come from the dual National winner next season as he was handed an 8/1 for the 2020 Grand National:

“He’s an unbelievable horse who had an unbelievable performance. He made a couple of mistakes on the way around, but was clever and never looked like falling. It’s a credit to Gordon and all his team to get him back fresh and well. People like Keith Donoghue who does all the work with him as well and knows him more than anybody.”

I thought he was a very short price for a Grand National but he proved me wrong and I wouldn’t back against him winning a third one next year. He’s not an old horse and has plenty of room for improvement.

Power also tipped Lostintranslation to play a leading part in the big chases next season after he ran out an easy winner of the Mildmay Novices’ Chase.

He said: “Lostintranslation was very impressive and he’s a horse I’ve always thought an awful lot of. We always knew that step up to 3 miles would bring huge improvements and it was a very, very good performance.”

“He’s only a seven-year-old and he’s going to be a lot stronger horse next year, he’s still a big baby. It’s very exciting to look forward to next year with him, potentially in the King George and the Gold Cup.”
