Too Darn Hot Scorches Field To Become Derby Favourite

Too Darn Hot is the new antepost favourite for both the Derby and 2000 Guineas in 2019 after storming home in the Solario Stakes at Sandown on Saturday.

Frankie Dettori opened up on the son of Dubawi two furlongs out and steered the Even money favourite to an impressive four-length win in an apparent display of his Classic credentials.

John Gosden’s two-year-old crashed in the antepost markets afterwards, closing into 6/1 from 12/1 for the 2000 Guineas and going 7/1 favourite from 16/1 for the 2019 Derby.

Anthony Van Dyke had been antepost Derby favourite after being backed into 10/1 from 14/1 following his Curragh success last weekend.

Ten Sovereigns was another name on the lips of punters after a dominant display in the Round Tower Stake at the Curragh earlier and Aidan O’Brien’s colt is now an 8/1 shot from 14/1 for the 2000 Guineas next year.
