A Dubliner took a €20 flutter on the horses this week and found themselves nearly €6,000 richer within the space of a couple of hours.

The intuitive punter took the flutter in a BoyleSports shop in the capital, picking four horses across the racing action at Market Rasen, Chepstow and Haydock on Wednesday.

They had their bet down just in time for the off in the 3.05 at Market Rasen and just minutes later the ball was rolling as Hugo’s Reflection (9/2) passed the winning post, while second selection Star Foot won the next race at the same venue at 11/4.

When Inaminna justified 9/4 favouritism in the 4.30 at Chepstown, there was just one horse standing between the expectant customer and a tasty four-figure payout.

Brezih Alko (10/3) didn’t let them down by beating the favourite in the 4.55 at Haydock, meaning within two hours the speculative bet had turned into a handsome windfall totalling €5,809.37.
