Fahey’s Lion To Roar Home At Cork
Racing returns to Downpatrick on Sunday while Cork stage a good card with the Cork Derby and Munster Oaks taking centre stage there and hopefully we’ve picked out a decent prospect at each fixture.
Townend To Get Back Among The Winners
Paul Townend was back among the winners in France last weekend before returning to action in Ireland this week following his lengthy Punchestown suspension but the gifted Cork rider looks to have a good chance on Minnie Dahill on Sunday.
Townend partnered Baie Des Iles for Ross O’Sullivan last Saturday and now it can be a winner for O’Sullivan’s father-in-law, Ted Walsh.
Minnie Dahill tackles handicap company for the first time over jumps but the juvenile hurdle winner would look well treated off a mark of 109 and Walsh’s charge will also avail of a 8lbs age allowance which sees her with a lovely racing weight of 10st12lbs against some more exposed rivals.
Minnie Dahill kept good company following her hurdle win and…
she just might be able to make her mark over the summer months in this sort of company.
Fahey’s Lion To Roar Home
Sea The Lion landed a few nice bets when winning on his seasonal debut at Leopardstown on Derrinstown day and Jarlath Fahey’s charge might just be able to score again in the Cork Derby.
The seven-year-old is lightly raced and was actually due to run in this race last year only to be taken out because of the change in going and while this will take a career best effort for him to win, the handicapper only gave him a 3lbs hike to defy and that should give him every chance.
A few from the Leopardstown race are back to oppose again and Richard O’Brien’s Alcatraz is an obvious danger but Sea The Lion is well entitled to improve for his first run of the season and connections seemed confident that he would have a good summer ahead.
The ground should be ideal and the trip is perfect so…
Sea The Lion’s winning might not be finished yet.
Minnie Dahill (7/1) – 3.00 Downpatrick
Sea The Lion (8/1) – 4.20 Cork
