Fidux The King Of Imperial Cup

It would be lovely to find a few winners this weekend before getting stuck into the Cheltenham Festival next week and there’s plenty of action to look forward to this afternoon.

King is the Imperial Man
Fidux is a horse that stands out in the Imperial Cup for Alan King and Wayne Hutchinson. He won on the flat in France and on his debut for King over hurdles and he looks a progressive type who has ran with credit in some big handicaps.

When racing behind Silver Streak at Cheltenham he ran a nice race at big odds to be only beaten by nine lengths and Fidux meets Silver Streak on much better terms here.

Maria’s Benefit is a mare fancied to give them all a run for their money in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle next week at Cheltenham. Fidux was going to be a fine second behind her before unseating earlier in the season and behind A Hare Breath on his penultimate start he again ran a fine race to finish fourth.

There certainly looks to be a nice prize in Fidux and whether or not he’s quite up to an Imperial Cup remains to be seen but he looks a big price at 12/1.

Puppy to keep Tizzard happy
It’s been a mixed week for Robbie Power but he can look forward to plenty of good rides for Jessica Harrington and Colin Tizzard next week and the BoyleSports ambassador can bag a winner on The Cider Maker at Hereford this afternoon.

The Cider Maker ran well last time over fences but looks favourably treated over hurdles and Power gave this horse a nice mention in his Herald column on Saturday.

Scoir Mear
Tom Mullins saddled a double at Leopardstown yesterday and he may bag the big winner at his local track Gowran Park with Scoir Mear in the Leinster National.

Scoir Mear has some really good form over hurdles and now steps back up in trip over fences and if he doesn’t find the ground too heavy he would look a big player here.

Scoir Mear was second behind Tongie over two miles last time but on his best form looks likely to be more than comfortable over three miles and with the yard in such form he is worth sticking with despite the fact that Barry Geraghty has opted for Close Shave.
