Garter The Order Of The Day At Deauville

It was a rare blank day for Aidan O’Brien yesterday as he was out of luck in the Classic Trial’s at Lingfield as well as drawing a blank at the Curragh and Deauville but he’s back to Deauville this afternoon and could hold the key in the French 2,000 Guineas.

Moore Success For Seamie
Ryan Moore’s booking on Peace Envoy in the French 2,000 Guineas was a bit of a surprise given that Orderofthegarter would have looked the more obvious choice and despite Moore’s choice…

it is the more obvious choice that is the selection from this corner under Seamie Heffernan.

For over two decades now Heffernan has been a vital cog in the Ballydoyle wheel and Orderofthegarter is a colt who looked to be very forward on debut when beating Taj Mahal in a Guineas Trial at Leopardstown and although much more is required here, we often see the progression from Ballydoyle runners from their first run on.

Ballydoyle won the race last year with The Gurkha and Orderofthegarter is a two-time winner who could well progress into a very nice colt for the second half of the season and hopefully his first crack at Group 1 level can see him land the spoils here ahead of the locals, Inns Of Court and Brametot.

Mullins To Hit The Vegas Jackpot
Killarney stage a valuable €50,000 handicap hurdle on the opening day of their first meeting and Lagostovegas makes appeal on her first start for Willie Mullins.

The five-year-old filly is undoubtedly going to be a few points shorter than she may have been if not trained by the champion trainer as he does have a fine record with newcomers to his yard but she does have enough form on varying ground to suggest that she can land a blow in a race like this off a nice weight (10st10lbs here) and the forecast rain that is due for the Kerry track shouldn’t be an inconvenience.

Light That and After Rain both ran races at the Punchestown Festival that will give their backers confidence but…

there’s more to come from Lagostovegas and hopefully she can record a second win at the track.

Jennie’s A Longshot
One for the Curragh on Sunday to keep an eye on is Jenniechild, a previous course and distance winner over five furlongs at HQ. Trained by the shrewd Peter Fahey, Jenniechild’s previous win at the Curragh was in a maiden and while that was a fairly modest contest, she is a filly that could be up to exploiting her mark of 67 and…

at around 16/1 she’s worth having a look at each-way.

No runner in the 21 strong field has been off the track longer but Fahey were able to get one ready and that wouldn’t be a major concern.

Recommended Bets:
Orderofthegarter (6/1) – 3.15 Deauville
Jenniechild (16/1 e/w)- 2.25 Curragh
Lagostovegas (7/2) – 3.35 Killarney
