Gordon Elliot Set For Great Start To Listowel Harvest Festival

The Listowel Harvest Festival begins with an all jump card on Sunday and it is the week that many believe really signifies the return of the National Hunt season proper.

Gordon Elliott could get the week off to a good start in the opening juvenile hurdle but Chief Justice, in the colours of Cheveley Park Stud, might not be Elliott’s only joy on the day.

Elliott on the Quest for more success

The penultimate Kerry Group Handicap Chase is a very competitive affair and what you would expect for a €40,000 prize but Mill Quest is tipped to defy her recent rise through the ratings and post a career best effort.

Mill Quest has gone from strength to strength this season and the change of scenery since joining Elliott really looks to have done the trick for the eight-year-old who has won four of her last seven starts and despite being third last time out, there is a chance that she might still be campaigning a step or two ahead of the handicapper.

Galway Plate winning jockey Mark Enright gets a chance on Mill Quest with a light weight on her back and possibly returning to 2m4f with just 10st will be able to help he win again.

Heavy rain at Listowel would be a slight concern but Mill Quest did win at Listowel two years ago, albeit in lesser company on soft to heavy ground so that shouldn’t be a huge negative for backers.

Hogan good run to continue

Macgiloney qualifies for a handicap after having had four runs in maidens but Denis Hogan is sticking with maiden company and could be rewarded at Listowel on Sunday.

The dual bumper winner was slightly disappointing last time to only finish fifth but it was behind a good winner and his Galway effort could have been a very hot maiden with a high class winner.

This might not be as strong a race as some his previous outings and Dinons has gone on to frank his bumper win earlier in the year.

Denis Hogan enjoyed a winner on the beach earlier in the week and could have found a nice opportunity for Macgiloney here.
