Kimberella Fine & Dandy For Nicholls In Stewards’ Cup

There’s not many things than can quite live with the Galway Festival so after starting a day later, Glorious Goodwood also has to finish a day earlier, but at least it does so with a bang.

Bookies Minding The Value
There isn’t any value in the feature Nassau Stakes but Minding is a great horse to be watching and that is what we should be enjoying about her. Aidan O’Brien’s top class filly is going to notch up another Group One success and we watch with interest how her season takes shape after this, which will undoubtedly feature more difficult assignments.

Kim Backs Up Quick
Having won at York last week, Dandy Nicholls goes straight back to the well with Kimberella and it could be a fruitful decision as the six-year-old could well land the £250,000 Stewards’ Cup.

The 12/1 shot is headed in the betting by some impressive speed merchants like 5/1 favourite Dancing Star and the stable companion of the selection, Orion’s Bow, but…

as Kimberella looks to be coming into the form of his life, it might be regrettable to not strike while the iron is hot.

Irish raiders G Force and Jamesie could outrun their odds but Kimerella will hopefully back up well from last week’s victory and reward those that made him 9/2 favourite last week and follow him to Goodwood for this lucrative contest.

Elliott To Delegate
Some punters will only go to Galway for a few days early in the week or a few later in the week, some diehards will try and do all seven days and some will somehow succeed in that, but this weekend 34 horses will run at the track having already had a go there earlier in the week.

Eight of those horses head to Ballybrit on Saturday with 26 running there on Sunday and among those that make their way back up the road today is Gordon Elliott’s Delegate and he looks to have a good chance of picking up some nice compensation.

It was much too early to make any assessment of Delegate when his race came to an end on Thursday going out on the final circuit. The horse clipped heels and unshipped Anthony Fox in a race eventually won by Bal Sas, but…

Delegate comes back to handicap company for this valuable Grade B contest and his mark of 127 may still be one he can exploit.

Watch The Market
Beau Satchel continued his love affair with Galway earlier in the week and tries to follow that up with another win today although he has plenty of weight to carry for his second examination of the week.

A horse that is worth watching out for though is Denis Hogan’s Tithonus.

Hogan himself is fond of landing a touch in Galway and market moves for this five-year-old would certainly be significant.

After proving successful on the all-weather late last year, Tithonus returned after his break at Naas a couple of weeks ago and it was a decent run on the back of a lay-off.

At his best, he can certainly play a part here and the betting should tell us how close to his best he is. Gary Halpin is a very positive booking.

Recommended Bets:
3.45 Goodwood – Kimberella 12/1
3.15 Galway – Delegate 14/1
5.00 Galway – Tithonus 14/1
