Mullins In Charge With Strong Hand At Limerick

Willie Mullins looks to have an extremely strong hand at Limerick’s all National Hunt card this afternoon.

The champion trainer even brings back a couple of his string that made the trip to Cheltenham earlier in the month and is definitely the man to follow on the card.

Maze to run rivals ragged
Maze Runner was due to run at Cheltenham and was even declared to wear blinkers on that occasion. He didn’t run in the Fred Winter and doesn’t have blinkers today but the four-year-old allowance might just help him claim the Rated Novice Hurdle.

Maze Runner was last season when following home Band Of Outlaws and there’s every chance he’d have had to do that again had he run in the Fred Winter.

Band Of Outlaws looks set for Grade 1 company at Aintree this week and Maze Runner’s form might look fairly strong by then.
This does look a very competitive race with Whatsafellatodo very interesting for Martin Brassil and The Holy One finally putting it together last time out so warrants respect.

However, Maze Runner looks to have enough about him to get back to winning ways here and maybe book his own place in a Grade 1 at the Punchestown Festival.

Ruby to get the best out of Saint
Paul Townend is again the number one for Closutton this afternoon as he looks to shake off Rachael Blackmore in the jockeys championship but Ruby Walsh could land the big race for his boss on Burrows Saint.

The six-year-old won his second start of the season when taking a beginners chase at Gowran Park, and he could just be a type to develop into a horse from some big handicap prizes in time.

Something like the Galway Plate could be ideal for Burrows Saint and this would seem a nice stepping stone for that and he is the pick of the eight declared runners even though his stable companion Robin Des Foret is rated 7lbs higher.

Top weight is the Chosen one
It was strange to see only seven runners declare for the 2m1f handicap chase at Limerick but it looks a chance for Goulane Chosen to shrug off his recent seconds and get a win on the board over fences.

The veteran has to give weight away all around but Donie McInerney takes a valuable 3lbs off and with the likes of Lucky Pat and Alto Esqua just two of the field who look likely to struggle this might be a race that is well within the capability of Goulane Chosen.

A repeat of his run behind Ex Patriot should most certainly be enough to see Goulane Chosen win here.

Recommended Bets:
Maze Runner (9/4) – 2.20 Limerick
Burrows Saint (15/8) – 4.05 Limerick
Goulane Chosen (2/1) – 4.40 Limerick
