Tribal-Path

Niall Cronin’s Racing Tips – Sunday

Dundalk and Tramore host the Irish action this Sunday and there is plenty of competitive action to get involved in.

English to Take the Right Path
It’s difficult to rack up a sequence of wins in Irish racing but Tribal Path managed to win off a handicap rating of 61 back in March at Cork when 25/1 and won four on the bounce to bring him up to a rating of 86. Even at that, he was a shade unlucky when getting collared late on in a premier handicap at Galway.

Tribal Path was 14/1 on that occasion and is only half those odds for today’s assignment at 3.10 but he could well reward his followers by getting back to winning ways. The six-year-old has certainly been a revelation this season and hopefully he’s not finished yet and can oblige at 7/1.

Halford and Foley on Fire
The Red God Handicap an hour later at 4.15 is worth €50,000 and as you would expect for that money it is a wide open affair.

Hawke is an intriguing runner on his first run since joining Johnny Murtagh from France but he’s a 16/1 shot and market moves will give a guide on this one.

Mick Halford has his team in good order at the moment and..

…fresh from a double on Saturday at Tramore and a treble for jockey Shane Foley, Tonkinese can hopefully cap off the weekend in fine style.

Winning last time at Gowran Park for just the second time in his career, the 8/1 shot was impressive on that occasion as he made all to win and although this represents a step up in class, Tokinese may just be well treated for a yard that has been enjoying such a good time of late.

Holden is Far From Static
Ellmarie Holden has enjoyed three winners from her last three runners and has almost doubled her tally since taking out a trainers licence this week alone. And on a very tricky afternoon for punters at Tramore, Holden can take the opening race with Static Jack (5/2).

The five-year-old is unlikely to be pitching up in the winter months but had a nice run at Cork last time out.

The point-to-point and bumper winner should be too good for his 14 rivals in this one with Brian Hayes booked to ride.

A lot of horses are making quick reappearances at Tramore today and the reflection of races really depends on how they bounce out of their recent victories but two horses at decent prices that would warrant a tentative look are Steady Major at 13/2 in the 3.55 and Curragh Golan at 12/1 in the penultimate race at 4.55.

Recommended Bets:
Tribal Path (3.10 Dundalk)
Tonkinese (4.15 Dundalk)
Static Jack (2.20 Tramore)
