Punters Come For Min After John Durkan Success

Min made a notable move up the Cheltenham antepost markets after a winning return to action at Punchestown on Sunday.

Willie Mullins’ 7-year-old had to battle for position before beating Gordon Elliott’s Shattered Love to the line in the John Durkan Memorial Chase and closed into 7/1 from 10/1 for the Ryanair Chase in March. He is also now 10/1 third favourite from 14/1 with BoyleSports for the Queen Mother Champion Chase, as Altior continues to head the market after going 8/13 from 4/5 after his Tingle Creek success on Saturday.

Great Field’s odds-on defeat in the Hilly Way Chase down at Cork resulted in a drift from 12/1 out to 16/1 to dethrone Altior in the 2019 Champion Chase.

Min’s win was followed by more joy for Mullins in the next as Getabird justified 4/7 favouritism to land the spoils on his chase debut. The display saw Ruby Walsh’s mount slashed in half for the Arkle at next year’s Festival as he collapsed into 7/1 from 14/1. The 6-year-old now only has two rivals ahead of him the betting in the shape of 6/1 Mengli Khan and 7/2 favourite Kalashnikov.

Min really had to battle before the last in the John Durkan but came out on top and it’s caught the eye of antepost punters

…as he went 10/1 third favourite behind Altior for the Champion Chase from 14/1 this morning.

Ruby Walsh has sounded concerns about Getabird’s jumping but everything suited at Punchestown today and his chasing bow has resulted in significant money for the Arkle, leaving us with little choice but to make him 7/1 third favourite now.
