Rainbow Could Shine If Rain Comes At Galway

Day two at Galway and there’s a couple of decent priced horses to keep an eye on in the feature.

The Galway Mile
Colm Quinn BMW has taken over the sponsorship of Tuesday’s big race at Galway and whoever is going to take home the €120,000 on offer is going to deserve it as it is an extremely competitive renewal.

Punters having a bet in the Galway Mile at 7.20 may be best advised to wait a bit closer to the time however as the ground is going to be a factor. Course and distance winner Hasanour is the horse I tipped in my Herald column last night, and a repeat of his Royal Hunt Cup run would definitely make him hard to beat at 7/1, however, it would be a major concern if the ground changes.

A few heavy showers yesterday didn’t make a massive difference but more of the same today could well have a big bearing on things and if the rain is getting into the race backers should have a little saver on Lily’s Rainbow for Sneezy Foster.

At 33/1, she will relish every drop of rain that falls and the four-year-old is well drawn to get into a good position early and certainly outrun her odds.

Wise Henry
Joseph O’Brien opened up his Galway account yesterday with the very impressive Motherland and in today’s opener he has a solid shout to have his first jumps winner with Oathkeeper but on this occasion Three Wise Men is preferred at 7/4 for Henry de Bromhead.

An impressive winner at Fairyhouse, Three Wise Men ran a very good race at Punchestown next time out.

And when going over fences Three Wise Men may well be making plenty of headlines, but for now, this looks a very winnable opportunity over hurdles.

Local Connection in the Finale
Galway natives love nothing more than a winner during this week and jockey Leigh Roche has had many.

In the finale he can enjoy another on the Oliver McKiernan-trained Ard Na Carraig.
The five-year-old goes into handicap company for the first time, which isn’t ideal around Galway with 19-runners, but some of his maiden form is quite solid and at 16/1 Ard Na Carraig is a very attractive price.

Recommended Bets:
Three Wise Men 7/4 (5.15 Galway)
Hasanour 9/1 (7.20 Galway)
Lily’s Rainbow 33/1 (7.20 Galway)
Ard Na Carraig 16/1 (8.20 Galway)
