Samcro Drifts After Fighting Fifth Confirmation

Gordon Elliot has cleared up doubts about Samcro’s appearance in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle this Saturday by confirming he ‘definitely runs’ when speaking at Punchestown.

We were forced to suspend the market on Wednesday morning after rumours circulated suggesting the Gigginstown House Stud-owned six-year-old wouldn’t run.

The anticipated clash between dual champion hurdler Buveur D’Air and Cheltenham champion Samcro is back on, but it is Nicky Henderson’s charge that is the firm 4/5 favourite to come out the victor, having shortened in from even money.

Samcro, who suffered a shock defeat to Bedrock in the WKD Hurdle during his reappearance at Down Royal earlier in the month, has been eased to 2/1 from 6/4 after the market reopened.
