Support For Saxon Warrior To Complete Guineas/Derby Double For O’Brien

Aidan O’Brien’s Saxon Warrior has been made a 10/1 shot to land both the 2000 Guineas and Epsom Derby this season ahead of the first classic this weekend at Newmarket.

O’Brien was the last trainer to pull off the double when Camelot won both races in 2012 under son Joseph,

…and Donnacha O’Brien has landed the ride on Saxon Warrior this year as Ryan Moore travels to the Kentucky Derby to ride 7/2 antepost favourite Mendelssohn. O’Brien has stated that there has been a big change in Saxon Warrior over the winter and plenty of punters are keen on him too backing him at 10/1 for the double.

It’s stablemate Gustav Klimt however who heads the betting for the 2000 Guineas at 9/4 with Saxon Warrior 4/1 second favourite as O’Brien bids to snatch his ninth win in the race.

Expert Eye, who is set to be ridden by Andrea Atzeni, has seen the bulk of each-way support and is now an 8/1 shot having started the week at 14/1 to land Sir Michael Stoute his sixth 2000 Guineas winner.
