Walshs Going In For The Kil At Fairyhouse

Just the 10 horses go to post for the €100,000 Dan Moore Handicap Chase but it is a hugely competitive field and cases can be made for many in the Fairyhouse feature.

Walshs Going In For The Kil
Gordon Elliott throws plenty of bullets at the feature races at both Fairyhouse and Punchestown and Duca De Thaix is the standard setter in the Dan Moore after his course win last time but a chance is taken on Kildorrery.

Ruby Walsh teams up with Ted here with Mark Walsh’s connection to JP McManus giving him the ride on Blazer and the six-year-old could be just on the right side of the handicapper.

Kildorrery missed his run at Leopardstown over Christmas but that could be a blessing in disguise as this is a massive pot and the quicker than normal ground for this time of year will suit Kildorrery better than most.

Yet to have a run in a handicap chase is a slight concern for the selection but he ran well in novice company at Punchestown under conditional rider Michael Stenson and Walsh’s experience on a horse who can be tricky at times is a big plus.

Elliott’s team warrant respect but…

11/2 looks a good price for Kildorrery.

Grey Day For Skelton
The Lanzarote Hurdle is the big betting heat of the day at Kempton and 12/1 looked a bit big for Solomon Grey.

The seven-year-old is one of the lesser exposed runners in this field and while he was well beaten at Doncaster last month, he can be forgiven for that run after a bit of a lay off.

Solomon Grey ended his season a bit prematurely last year by winning at Market Rasen and we didn’t see him again until Doncaster four weeks ago where he was last of seven runners.

A tongue tie is fitted for the first time here and while a leap of faith has to be taken to forget that Doncaster run, he had some decent form in the past.

Solomon Grey was third behind If The Cap Fits last season and the latter has gone on to be a 150 rated horse while the selection is running off 131 today.

Erick De Rouge is a non runner now and Darling Maltaix and Doux Prentender up at the top of the handicap might just be a little exposed at this stage so Solomon Grey…

on his favoured nice ground, is worth taking a punt on.

Recommended Bets:
Kildorrery (7/2) – 2.10 Fairyhouse
Solomon Grey (12/1) – 2.40 Kempton
