Andy Murray Returns To Top Of SPOTY Betting

As Andy Murray closes in on the World Number One spot after he won 20 sets out of 20 in the Shanghai Rolex Masters, he is back as the favourite for the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year award.

Murray was temporarily pushed out to 5/2 second favourite after Alistair Brownlee knocked him off his perch when punters rushed to back him for his act of sportsmanship in the Triathlon World Series.

Murray has recently seen a burst of support that resulted in his odds shortening into the now 7/4 favourite.

Alistair Brownlee is now on offer at 9/4 from 5/2.

Anthony Joshua is another mover for the SPOTY award and is now priced at 9/2 from his outsider price of 25/1 a couple of weeks ago.

With Joshua poised to defend his IBF heavyweight title against Wladimir Klitschko in December, support came bounding in from punters who believe he will hang onto the title and bag the SPOTY award in the process. Having been 25/1 a matter of weeks ago, some punters are sitting on some nice bets.
