Hathaway Hot Fav For Mary Poppins Role

Disney have announced they will be making a new Mary Poppins film, 50 years after the lovable English nanny, then played by Julie Andrews, stole our hearts.

Rob Marshall, who directed Into the Woods will direct the film but the role of Mary is still up for grabs.

Anne Hathaway is the clear favourite to take on the role of Mary Poppins at 6/4. She has the classic look, the vocals, and has already played the part in a skit for Saturday Night Live.

There is unsurprisingly a lot of competition for the role and Anne Hathaway is not the only name at the forefront of the betting, as Emily Blunt, who starred in director Rob Marshall’s Into The Woods, is the second favourite at 5/2. Also starring in Into The Woods was Anna Kendrick, but she is the much bigger price of 10/1 to be cast.

Amy Adams, who played Giselle in Enchanted, is another name rumoured to play the iconic character and can be backed at 7/2.

Kirsten Bell showcased her vocal abilities when she voiced Princess Anna in Frozen and is fourth in the running at 11/2. Amanda Seyfried is next in the betting at 12/1 with Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who is featuring in the Live-action Beauty and the Beast, priced at 16/1.

Other names in the mix are Glee’s Lea Michele (33/1) and Dianna Argon (50/1), Pitch Perfect’s Anna Camp and Isla Fisher, who are both on offer at 50/1.

Once the news broke that there was going to be another Mary Poppins, fans have been crying out for Anne Hathaway to take over from Julie Andrews as the Banks family’s nanny and BoyleSports punters agree as they have been backing her off the boards so we expect that her current price of 6/4 to get even shorter in the coming days.
