Soak Battling Jamie XX For Mercury Music Prize

The Mercury Music Prize is up for grabs on Friday night and at present, any of the twelve nominees could claim the coveted prize that has been won by names such as the Arctic Monkeys, Elbow, PJ Harvey and Alt J in the past.

Currently, Jamie XX heads the betting at 4/1 with his album “In Colour”. Both Wolf Alice and Ghostpoet are next in the betting at 6/1 alongside Benjamin Clementine for his album “At Least For Now”.

Irish artists Róisín Murphy and Soak are rapidly making a name for themselves and Murphy can be backed at 7/1 to win with her album “Hairless Toys”.

Soak, who hails from Derry, is priced at 14/1 to land the coveted prize for her album “Before We Forget How To Dream”.

The nineteen-year-old is the new kid on the block and she may well be overpriced at 14/1 to win the coveted prize. Soak, who’s real name is Bridie Monds-Watson, is being tipped by music critics as the ‘next big thing’.
