Fianna Fáil Odds-On Favourites To Win Most Seats At General Election

Fianna Fáil’s showing at the recent local elections is continuing to take its toll on the betting markets as they cement their place as favourites to win most seats at the next General Election.

Party leader Micheál Martin is said to be eyeing a gain of 10 seats at the next poll with returns targeted in every constituency.

Money is continuing to come in and Fianna Fáil have now leapfrogged Fine Gael in the betting to win most seats next time out, making them the favourites for the first time since the 2016 election.

They are now 4/5 frontrunners from 11/10 which edges them ahead of Fine Gael at 10/11.

Leo Varadkar’s latest setback saw him acknowledge a ‘long standing split’ in his party in Waterford as he vowed on investigate allegations of bullying after party members in the area passed a no confidence motion in TD John Deasy.

With a recent poll putting Fianna Fáil five points ahead of Fine Gael at 28%, he also been overtaken by Micheál Martin in the betting to be the Taoiseach after the next election after Martin closed into odds-on at 4/5 with Varadkar back at Even money.
