Michael Gove Now Main Danger To Boris Johnson

Next Conservative Leader

Outright Betting

Michael Gove has emerged as Boris Johnson’s main rival in the battle to replace Theresa May as the next Conservative Party leader according to the latest betting.

Former Foreign Secretary Johnson remains the favourite to win the Tory leadership race, however having hit an odds-on 4/5 last weekend, his odds are on the slide after we eased him out to 2/1 this week.

Michael Gove’s odds meanwhile are going in the opposite direction after he was out at 12/1 before Theresa May announced her imminent departure in Downing Street last Friday. He closed into 8/1 as the betting activity started to heat up at the weekend,

but the Environment Secretary is now into 3/1 following a new wave of punters’ support.

Rory Stewart, who is one of the only candidates so far to say that he will not countenance a no deal Brexit, is a 14/1 shot while Jeremy Hunt is into 10/1 from 14/1 despite being accused of ‘flip-flopping’ on his Brexit policy.

James Cleverly and Kit Malthouse became two of the latest names to enter the crowded race this week but they have it all to do at 33/1 and 100/1 respectively.
