Theresa May Odds-On To Win Vote Of No Confidence

Theresa May is being backed to stave off any threat to her premiership as she continues to face the prospect of a Conservative leadership election.

The Prime Minister will be forced into a ballot should 48 of her own Tory MPs submit letters of no confidence, with reports in Sunday’s press suggesting that more will follow early this week.

BoyleSports however make it an odds-on 4/7 shot that May wins any vote of no confidence after the likes of Michael Gove, Liam Fox and Penny Mourdant all remained in Cabinet despite doubts over the deal she negotiated with the European Union.

It is an outside 5/2 shot that any leadership contender puts themselves forward and ousts May as Tory leader.

The odds on a second referendum on EU membership in the UK meanwhile have sunk to an all-time low of 11/8 having been as big as 16/1 before the PM made her Brexit pitch to Cabinet at Chequers in July. On Sunday, Jeremy Corbyn said chances of the question being put to the public again was not an option for today but was an ‘option for the future.’

A second referendum on EU membership was a real outside chance months ago but the odds have been gradually crumbling and are now headed towards Even money.

We expect them to go odds-on if May’s Brexit deal is voted down in Parliament.

If the current betting trends are anything to go by, Theresa May isn’t going anywhere just yet because there’s been significant support in her chances of seeing off any challengers, meaning she’s an odds-on shot to win any vote of no confidence in the near future.
