Argentina have won two FIFA World Cups in their entire history. The first of those World Cup wins came when they hosted the event in 1978 as they went on to beat the Netherlands 3-1 in the final. Their most recent tournament victory came in Mexico’s 1986 World Cup. They were led by the Argentine legend Diego Armando Maradona on that occasion as they saw off West Germany in the final 3-2.

It is now 36 years since that World Cup win and this footballing giant will feel that they are due another title this year in Qatar. Lionel Messi will feel that it is in his destiny to repeat his idol Maradona’s feat in 1986 and lead his country to World Cup glory.
