Ballymac Matt Clear Favourite To Win BoyleSports IGD

24 dogs remain in the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby as next Saturday night sees the quarter-finals take place at Shelbourne Park.

Ballymac Matt won his Round 3 Heat in a time of 29.44 and is now the 11/4 clear favourite to land the coveted prize, having been available at 5/1 prior to his 3 length victory over Highview Apollo, who is a 66/1 chance to cause an upset.

Despite only managing to finish third in Round 3 Heat 5, Farloe Blitz remains the second favourite at 6/1 to claim glory. The Francis Murray trained Fair Taxes, who did well to overcome a first bend bump to finish second in Heat 2 last Saturday night, is next in the betting at 12/1 alongside Round 3 Heat 3 winner, Tyrur Tommy and Round 3 Heat 1 winner Secreto.

Another big mover in the betting is the Patrick O’Brien trained Peregrine Falcon, who remains unbeaten in the competition following a 3.5 length victory over Ivy Hill Bart in Round 3 Heat 6. Having been priced at 40/1 prior to his third victory in the competition, the son of Ace Hi Rumble is now priced at 16/1 alongside Rural Hawaii and Samiya to claim the spoils.

The BoyleSports IGD is heating up with punters beginning to latch onto Ballymac Matt following the news that he will race from Trap 1 in his quarter-final heat.

Ivy Hill Bart remains a big loser in the book having been supported down from 150/1 to his current price of 33/1, but he faces a tough quarter final having been drawn from Trap 6 in the same quarter final as current favourite Ballymac Matt, who is rapidly becoming the worst result in the book for the firm.
