Ballymac Matt Moving In On Derby Win

The quarter finals of the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby sees 24 dogs battle it out at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night to see who progresses to the Semi-Finals.

Farloe Blitz, who will race from Trap 1 in the first quarter-final, is all the rage with punters at 11/10 to win whilst his nearest rivals in the betting are Samiya (Trap 4) and Rural Hawaii (Trap 6) who are both priced at 3/1.

The second quarter final sees current Derby favourite, Ballymac Matt, race from Trap 1 and his odds on price of 4/9 suggests that he will be hard to beat.

Save The Don, who will race from Trap 5, is his nearest challenger in the betting at 4/1.

The third quarter-final is hard to predict with Tyrur Tommy (Trap 1) and the Francis Murray trained Fair Taxes (Trap 4) inseparable at the head of the betting at 2/1. Gaytime Hawk, who will race from Trap 5, is next in the betting at 5/1.

Cable Bay (Trap 1) and Secreto (Trap 2) head the betting at 3/1 for a wide open fourth quarter-final that sees the unbeaten and surprise dog of the competition, Peregrine Falcon, priced at 7/2 to win from Trap 3. Paul Hennessy’s Jaytee Jet will race wide from Trap 6 and is 4/1 to win the race whilst Sidarian Vega is hot on his heels at 9/2 with Lemon Miley (Trap 4) the outsider at 12/1.

Punters are liking Trap 1 to win the first two quarter-finals with Farloe Blitz and Ballymac Matt paying 2/1 for the double to win their quarter-finals at present.

Our traders are expecting the current 2/1 on Tyrur Tommy to win the 3rd Quarter-Final to dry up sooner rather than later as he is by far the best backed dog in his quarter-final.
