Birdman To Fly Away With Golden Globes

The 72nd Golden Globes take place on the 11th of January and as the nominees wait nervously for the award show, our betting shows that some could be in for a real treat.

Birdman is up for a whopping six nominations and the odds are in their favour to walk away with a feast of awards.

First and foremost, the Alejandro González directed comedy is the 1/6 strong favourite to claim Best Motion Picture in a Comedy or Musical with Into The Woods its main threat at 6/1. Birdman’s leading man Michael Keaton is the 1/10 favourite to claim Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for his role as Riggan Thomson.

Boyhood is overshadowing Birdman in the Best Director category as Richard Linklater heads the betting at 1/6. However, Alejandro González is a 5/1 shot to pip Linklater to the post and win the award.

The eagerly anticipated Boyhood, which was filmed over a staggering twelve years, is hotly tipped to win Best Motion Picture – Drama at 1/4. The Imitation Game is next in the betting at 4/1, with Foxcatcher and Selma both priced at 14/1.

Eddie Redmayne’s portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything has earned him the top spot in the betting as the favourite to win Best Actor in a Drama. In the Best Actress in a Drama category, Julianne Moore is in prime position for the Golden Globe at 1/7 for her depiction of a college professor struggling with Alzheimer’s disease. There is a two-way tie for the favourite spot in Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical with both Amy Adams and Emily Blunt 10/11 for their respective roles.
