BoyleSports Xtra Win Sees Sean Ryan Shiner Receive €10,000

It was a night to remember at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night as the Michael Fortune Night of Stars took place with some magical moments made on a brilliant night of greyhound action.

Eight of the thirteen races resulted in a €10,000 prize to each winner and before the evening kicked off, it was announced that John Boyle’s greyhound BoyleSports Xtra would be running in aid of the Sean Ryan Shiner appeal.

The 28-year old hurling and greyhound fan from Tipperary was left with life-changing injuries after a horror crash in Melbourne, Australia, days before he was due to come home for good after five years in Australia.

Sean was forced to have his right foot amputated after the accident along with plates put into his left hip, which will require more surgery and intensive rehabilitation.

Sean’s family set up a GoFundMe page with a €100,000 target and on Saturday night at Shelbourne Park, before the most anticipated race of the night, BoyleSports Xtra came in as a late reserve and blasted from traps to claim the big prize in fantastic fashion.

The victory resulted in Sean’s GoFundMe page edging closer to the targeted amount as John Boyle donated his winnings of €10,000 to help the Irishman in his recovery.

Sean watched the race from his hospital bed and was thrilled with the result by posting a picture on social media with a ‘thumbs up’ image showing his love for BoyleSports Xtra after winning the hottest race on the Michael Fortune Night of Stars.

We hope Sean can return home to Tipperary soon and we all wish him all the best in his recovery.
