Supreme Novices’ Hurdle

He said: “I’m a big fan of Constitution Hill. He ticks all the boxes and has a great temperament. That’s the big question mark for me with Dysart Dynamo and Jonbon, have they the temperament to handle the occasion.

“There will be packed stands at Cheltenham at 1.30 on Tuesday and that is a big concern.

“Constitution Hill will like the good ground. I walked the course today and I think it’s good ground from the top of the hill to the winning post and maybe good to soft down the back so for me he is the safest bet in the race.”

Arkle Novices’ Chase

“I think Haut En Couleurs and Saint Sam are the best of Willie Mullins’ trio as I’m not a fan of Blue Lord. He was well beaten when he fell at the last in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle last year. Edwardstone deserves to be favourite, and he has been foot perfect this season for Alan King.

“But the one for me is Riviere D’etel getting seven pounds. She was unlucky not to win at Leopardstown. She is all about stamina and stays really well so the hill will suit her. It’s a wide-open Arkle but she gets the one from me.”

Champion Hurdle

“It’s a fantastic renewal of the Champion Hurdle with Honeysuckle going for 15 from 15. She was brilliant here last year, and she is the one we all have to beat. Giving her seven pounds is a tough task.

“Both Appreciate It, who was so impressive in the Supreme last year, and Teahupoo will need to improve to get up to her level. That’s not saying they can’t.

“The vibes coming from the Willie Mullins camp about Appreciate It are really strong and they have to be respected. If any man can train a horse to win a Champion Hurdle on his first run of the season its Willie Mullins.

“I’m hoping Teahupoo can put up a big show as he was so impressive at Gowran Park. Ideally, I would like the ground a bit softer, but it is what it is.”

Mares’ Hurdle

“The Mares Hurdle is wide open and it’s probably the strongest renewal we have seen. We don’t have the likes of a Honeysuckle or a Quevega in there, but these are good mares in their own rights. Stormy Ireland for me should be favourite.

“I think Telmesomethinggirl is a false favourite and is only top of the betting because she won here last year as a novice.

“Stormy Ireland put up a very good performance here on New Year’s Day and she won over course and distance so I think she should head the betting.

“There is big talk for Queens Brook and the Gordon Elliott yard think she will reverse the form with Burning Victory and if she is good enough to beat Stormy Ireland then Queens Brook won’t be far away.”

National Hunt Chase

“There are only seven runners, but it is competitive. I’m going to go with horse for courses and I thought Vanillier was so impressive here last year in the Albert Bartlett. I think he has been crying out for this trip so we should see an improvement on better ground as well.

“I think he can reverse the form with Stattler on their Naas running with Vanillier giving him eight pounds that day. Run Wild Fred brings loads of experience to the table and is a big danger but I’m siding with Vanillier on his performance last year in the Albert Bartlett.”

Robbie’s Ground Check

Robbie also took a tour of the course to check the ground, ahead of the Cheltenham Festival starting tomorrow afternoon, take a look!
