Clan Des Obeaux 5/1 Shot For Gold Cup After King George Win

Paul Nicholls landed his 10th win in the King George VI Chase after Clan Des Obeaux romped home to a 1 and ½ length victory at Kempton.

We have introduced Clan Des Obeaux at 5/1 alongside an unchanged defending champion Native River for the Cheltenham Gold Cup Steeple Chase. Just Presenting Percy lies ahead of Nicholls’ six-year-old having shortened further into favouritism, now 3/1 from 7/2.

2016 winner Thistlecrack looked as though he was set to repeat history but couldn’t see out his lead after the last hurdle and ultimately came second. Despite the result, Thistlecrack has been cut into 14/1 from 25/1 for the Golf Cup.

It was a disappointing run for Mite Bite, who placed 7th and has been eased out to 12/1 from 7/1 as a result.

In other racing news, La Bague Au Roi was introduced at 8/1 for the RSA Steeple Chase following an impressive win in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase, a first grade 1 win for the Warren Greatrex trained seven-year-old. Runner-up Topofthegame has shortened into 10/1 from 12/1 whilst third place Santini is now the 7/2 favourite, a slight drift from 10/3.
