Emma Raducanu Odds Slashed For BBC Sports Personality Award

Emma Raducanu looks set to be crowned the BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner if the latest betting trends are anything to go by.

The 18-year-old defeated Leylah Fernandez 6-4 6-3 in the US Open final at Arthur Ashe Stadium last Saturday to become Great Britain’s first female grand slam winner in 44 years.

BoyleSports trimmed her chances gradually into 8/1 from 66/1 over the course of the tournament but following her big win, those odds have crashed into a red-hot 1/20 making her the runaway favourite from Tom Daley who is the second favourite at 10/1.

Tom Daley was our original favourite with his chances now out to 10/1 from 6/4.

The BBC World Sports Star title could be going to Elaine Thompson-Herah who has been trimmed into 4/6 from 5/4. The Jamaican followed up her Olympic 100m-200m double in Tokyo by coming within 0.05 seconds of Florence Griffith Joyner’s 33-year-old 100m world record in a Diamond League meeting recently.

She is now the new favourite to deny Novak Djokovic the title after his odds were eased out to 6/4 from 4/7 having failed to complete the calendar Grand Slam this year.
