Rachael Blackmore & Minella Times Win Grand National

Rachael Blackmore from Co. Tipperary made history on Saturday by becoming the first female jockey to win the Grand National with Minella Times.

Indeed, it was a first win in the race for trainer Henry de Bromhead who not only won the race but finished second with Balko Des Flos for jockey Aidan Coleman.

Blackmore and Minella Times crossed the line together at odds of 11/1, with BoyleSports traders confirming it was a popular result for punters with turnover in the race very positive.

The talented lady not only made history at the Cheltenham Festival last month by becoming the first female to win the top jockey award, but she has now won the Grand National. Her odds have plummeted into 1/100 from 1/4 that she will be crowned the RTE Sportsperson of the Year with Katie Taylor the closest rival to her in the betting at 12/1.

BoyleSports paid seven places in the race with customers getting paid out on Minella Times, Balko Des Flos, Any Second Now, Burrows Saint, Farclas, Blaklion and Discorama.

Irish trained runners filled the first five places which was a 66/1 chance for that to happen. In summary it was an excellent day and much enjoyed by our customers.
