Price Plummet On Raheem Sterling For BBC Sports Personality Award

Raheem Sterling has emerged as a leading contender to be crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year after his goal against Germany at Wembley set England on their way to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.

The Manchester City forward bagged his third goal of the tournament with 15 minutes remaining before Harry Kane opened his account to seal the victory and tee up a crucial Saturday night clash with Ukraine for a place in the semi-finals.

England are now the 2/1 favourites to win their second major trophy, but some shrewd punters are already banking on further recognition for their star players should they go all the way.

Sterling was slashed into 7/1 from 50/1 to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award within minutes of the final whistle on Tuesday,

…while captain Harry Kane also shortened into 12/1 from 14/1.

Sprinter Dina Asher-Smith is the 5/1 favourite to scoop the BBC accolade with fellow Olympic hopefuls Laura Kenny and Adam Peaty also in the running at 11/1 and 14/1 respectively.
