Shane Lowry Backed To Be Europe’s Top Scorer At Ryder Cup

Irish punters are backing Shane Lowry to revel in his Ryder Cup debut by finishing the week as top scorer for Team Europe at Whistling Straits.

The Offaly man was named alongside Sergio Garcia and Ian Poulter as Padraig Harrington’s wildcard picks and has been cut into 10/1 from 12/1 to be Europe’s top scorer behind favourite Jon Rahm (3/1), Rory McIlroy (9/2) and fellow rookie Viktor Hovland (7/1).

We’re seeing plenty of Team Europe support they can overcome their underdog status. Irish punters in particular are buzzing about Shane Lowry’s debut.

The 2019 Open champion is also hotly fancied at a much shorter 13/8 to outscore Hovland and Bernd Wiesberger to be Europe’s top performing rookie in Wisconsin, while the chances of compatriot Harrington sending Lowry out in all five sessions are rated at 10/1.

Europe will start as underdogs to emerge victorious for the fifth time in six contests, but have been trimmed into 6/4 from 13/8 to retain the trophy, knowing a tie will be enough to take it back across the Atlantic.
