Dancing On Ice’s Kevin Kilbane Says Experience Is Limited To Dancefloor At Coppers

Punters have already gone cold on ex-Premier League star and BoyleSports Football Ambassador Kevin Kilbane after he became the third celebrity to join the Dancing On Ice line-up for the new series.

Speaking to us on Wednesday, Kilbane admitted a lack of experience on the ice and spoke of his biggest concern ahead of taking to the rink.

He said: “I have had a little bit of time ice-skating with my two daughters and I skated at the bottom of the Rockefeller building in New York. But my time on the ice is very limited; it’s going to be a serious challenge for me.

“The one thing I’m nervous about is carrying somebody’s body in my hands. When the partners are being dished out and I find out who I’m going to get, I’d say they’ll be bricking themselves about my limited ability on the ice.”

That has done nothing for confidence amongst punters, who have so far been reluctant to throw their money behind the ex-Republic of Ireland international at 33/1.

He did however sound a note of optimism, citing his dancing experience in one of the country’s best-known nightclubs:

“I’ve been known to frequent the dancefloor in Coppers so I wouldn’t be shy in getting out there and having a bit of a dance. So I’ll be fairly confident I can move on that ice.”

Only Michael Barrymore is at a bigger price than Kilbane in the early betting, with the presenter a 40/1 shot to strike it lucky on the ice.

Love Island’s Maura Higgins is the other confirmed hopeful and she is 4/1 second favourite to do what she didn’t do in the villa and walk off with the winners’ prize, while fellow-islander Tommy Fury is the 5/2 favourite.
