Aspinall “Not Here To Make Up The Numbers Up” In BoyleSports World Grand Prix

Nathan “The Asp” Aspinall is confident of going all the way at the BoyleSports World Grand Prix as the former UK Open champion dreams of lifting the title in Leicester.

The 30-year-old reached the quarter-final stage on his debut in 2019 and says it’s his target to win every tournament he plays in and is not there to make the numbers up.

Aspinall’s first-round match sees him go head-to-head with Poland’s Krzysztof Ratajski at the Morningside Arena in the fourth match on Monday night.

“It’s one of those tournaments where if you’re confident heading into these games anyone can do well and that’s my mindset!” Aspinall told BoyleSports this week.

“The first round is tough as it’s only best of three, so you have to be on top of your game early on. If you’re hitting a double at the start, then you are very hard to beat. The target is always to get off with your first three darts and if you do then you’re a tough opponent to beat.”

Aspinall is set to start the tournament as a 33/1 shot to go all the way, with Gerwyn Price (4/1), Michael van Gerwen (11/2) and Peter Wright (6/1).
