Bets Refunded On Michael van Gerwen After World Darts Withdrawal

We’re are giving cash back to punters who backed Michael van Gerwen to win the World Darts Championship after he was forced to withdraw from the tournament following a positive test for Covid-19.

The three-time champion was due to play Chris Dobey for a place in the Last 16 on Tuesday evening, but the Englishman will now receive a bye and will play the winner of Wednesday’s match between Dave Chisnall and Luke Humphries.

Van Gerwen had started the tournament as joint favourite alongside defending champion Gerwyn Price who has now been clipped into 5/2 from 7/2 to go all the way again, while compatriot Jonny Clayton is rated his main danger having shortened into 4/1 from 11/2.

This couldn’t have happened at a worse time for Michael van Gerwen and we wish him well in his recovery.

Punters would have been confident of a run for their money too so it’s only fair they get their cash back and we hope it provides some consolation.
