BoyleSports have agreed a deal with the PDC to sponsor the BoyleSports World Grand Prix in the Citywest Convention Centre for the next three years, running from 2019 to 2021.

The event was established in 1998 with this year’s dates running from October 6th to October 12th being broadcast live every night on Sky Sports.

BoyleSports Head of Communications Leon Blanche caught up with the current champion Michael van Gerwen who won his fourth BoyleSports World Grand Prix title last year beating Peter Wright 5-2.

In an interview with van Gerwen, the Dutchman told Blanche,

This tournament is different, it has something special with the double start. The people love it and they come out to support.

Van Gerwen, who won the World Grand Prix in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018, will be attempting to retain the trophy for the first time.

BoyleSports make van Gerwen the 2/1 favourite with recent World Matchplay Champion, Rob Cross, the 5/1 second favourite cut from 8/1, with Scotland’s Gary Anderson who was runner up to Van Gerwen in 2016 at 13/2.

Also speaking to Leon Blanche at the launch of the BoyleSports World Grand Prix of Darts, Rob Cross described his plan for making it past the first round, something he has failed to do in both of his previous starts,

It’s a bit peculiar just starting on a double, but if I go over a longer format with it, I’ve got every chance of winning it.

Glen Durrant sits at 8/1 with Peter Wright at 10/1 and Gerwyn Price and Daryl Gurney at 16/1.
