Carlow Man Steve Lennon Heading To Round 2 At Ally Pally

A Carlow native has made it to the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship after seeing off James Bailey 3-0 on Tuesday evening.

Steve Lennon is currently ranked at 38 in the PDC and will now face 25th seed Alan Norris in Round 2 on Thursday at Alexandra Palace. Norris (8/5) has bowed out in the second round for the past two years in the tournament and with Lennon red hot at 1/2 to win, it looks like he could be set to suffer the same fate.

Another Irishman has progressed to round 2, William O’Connor, who hails from Limerick, beat Yordi Meeuwisse 3-0 on Sunday

He is set to take on 26 seed James Wilson on Wednesday evening. O’Connor is a firm underdog at 31/20 with Wilson odds on at 1/2 to win.

Michael van Gerwan remains the tournament favourite at 11/8 with Gary Anderson next at 10/3. Defending champion Rob Cross is now 8/1 after shortening in from 22/1 following support off the back of his 3-1 victory over Jeffery de Zwaan seeing him secure third round status.
