Snakebite Backed Into Second Favourite For BoyleSports World Grand Prix Of Darts

Peter Wright’s prospects of winning his first BoyleSports World Grand Prix are being backed heavily ahead of the tournament in Dublin’s Citywest next weekend.

The Scot is looking to go one better than last year following his 2018 final defeat to Michael Van Gerwen and a favourable draw saw his odds clipped into 9/1 from 12/1. But further support has seen him cut further with sponsors BoyleSports, who now rate ‘Snakebite’ as the 8/1 second favourite.

That move puts him ahead of compatriot Gary Anderson, who has been eased to 9/1 from 8/1. Favourite Michael Van Gerwen has also drifted slightly to 13/8 from 6/4 in his bid to win a fifth title in the double-start event.

A repeat of last year’s final between Van Gerwen and Wright is the most likely decider this time round too at 15/2, with the Dutchman 9/1 to face Rob Cross in a repeat of the epic 2018 World Championship semi-final.

Michael Van Gerwen remains well clear in the betting, but the gap is getting closer, with Peter Wright gaining all the momentum in recent days.

His draw could have been much worse and it’s being reflected in the support he’s getting which makes him 8/1 from 12/1.
